Alanton School Counseling Mission Statement

 

 

The mission of the school counseling program…

 

In partnership with students, parents/guardians, teachers, staff, and administrators is to deliver a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate school counseling program for Kindergarten-5th grade students. This will be accomplished within the following three domains:

 

Academic (support VBSCPS’ goal of preparing lifelong learners and workers prepared for 21st century challenges and expectations);

 

Career development (support self-identification of career goals; interpersonal and professional skill development; awareness of the global, socially, and economic trends that influence post-secondary education, training, and work);

 

and Personal/social development (support students’ development: of tools to appropriately manage peer, familial, and interpersonal concerns; understanding of consequences and decision making; understanding of the pillars of character/citizenship

 

Through collaborating and consulting with teachers, staff, administrators, parents/guardians, and the community.
